VENT: money
growing up, we never went out to eat as a family at all. i dont remember one moment as a kid where we went out to dinner at a restaurant, except when we traveled to my moms home country. but other than that, never. my mom never understood people who went out to eat. i understand making food at home, but she saw going out to eat as a bad way to "blow" money. we never celebrated holidays because my mom couldnt justify spending money for presents and what not. we never had birthday parties because my mom, again, couldnt justify celebrating a birthday and spending money on that. as a i grew older and started working while under her roof, she would yell at me for buying the things i never got as a kid. even now that i am a mother of one and soon to be two, she yells at me for buying my daughter toys and necessary clothes. i wish my mom was the type to throw birthday parties or baby showers but she looks down on that because.. of all the money spent. surprise lol. even when i have taken her out tonest. she complains about the price and what not. sometimes i feel like she is missing out on so much because she is afraid to spend money. its annoying, especially when i hear all the things she says whenever she sees my daughter with something new.
