Feeling much better after surgery

Dara

This little cutie is feeling much better after surgery! She had to have a Supraglottoplasty done on February 13 and stayed over night in ICU.

A little back story....

She was born with a congenital birth defect called Laryngomalacia, it’s a softening of the tissue surrounding the voice box that causes her to have loud breathing... kind of sounds like the way a bulldog or a pug would when they breath. Very loud and rattling almost congested sounding when she would breath. After seeing an ENT for her noisy breathing they recommend surgery as not only was she a noisy breather but her tissue surrounding her voice box/airways was very floppy, so much so that when she would breath in it would completely close her airways every time she would inhale. Here are some before and after photos for those that like that kind of thing.

Before:

This is her airway and voice box

After:

This is afterwards, they cut and removed the floppy tissue so she could breath better and not chock like she would. Her breathing is much quieter now, I find myself checking on her much more than I was because I’m not used to her breathing so quietly. She is definitely a little trooper... her ENT said that overall everything was successful except she has another defect in her throat that when she gets sick could cause her to sound extremely croupy, but as long as she breathes better I can live with that..

Here she is while in ICU...

I just wanted to share her story for someone else that might be going through the same thing. I’m hear for questions and support if someone else is going through this. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

And just one more picture cause she is so cute...
