Tips with Reflux?
TIA
One of my twin boys (5 weeks old) has had reflux since we brought him home from the NICU at week 2.
Here’s what’s going on with him...
-Spits up after every feeding no matter how much you burp him
-About an hour after he eats he starts screaming, arching his back, turning purple, spits up through both his nose and his mouth and nothing helps but holding him but he still continues to scream. It takes awhile to get him to calm down.
-He’s growing but he’s not as big as his brother, his brother takes formula sometimes too, but anytime I try to fortify, or give him formula it’s much much worse. Which I brought up to his pediatrician asking about a milk/dairy allergy but he said he doesn’t have any other symptoms. Also, while he was in the NICU they were feeding him my breast milk and my diet hasn’t changed from there to home.
Here’s what we’ve tried and what we are doing:
-Hold him upright for 30 minutes after feeding
-Sit him up in a bouncer that’s more elevated than most bouncers (based on pediatrician‘s recommendation) if we can’t hold him upright or if it’s during the day
-He’s on Prevacid
-We use Gripe Water
-We use Gas Drops
-Formulas we’ve tried: Similac NeoSure, Similac Alimentum and Enfamil NeuroPro Enfacare
I understand this is something that we will be dealing with for quite sometime but anything to help alleviate his pain or the time would be amazing! Since I have two brand new babies plus pumping exclusively because they won’t latch I’m an exhausted mama looking for any suggestions.
