Double insurance?

I get insurance through work but just the basic, should I bump it up and do I need to call them to let them know I’m pregnant? My first appointment is March 17th. Should I also apply for OHP to cover what my work won’t?

You can only make changes to your insurance if it's your company's open enrollment period, or if you have a life changing event like getting married/divorced etc (pregnancy doesn't count). You can't just wait until you have something medical arise and decide to upgrade your coverage. If you happen to be in the company's open enrollment, I would compare the benefits of the better policy vs the increase in monthly premium. Usually it's worth it. You can't sign up for secondary insurance if you're already pregnant or they'll accept coverage for new issues, but won't cover anything pregnancy related as it would be considered a preexisting condition.

You have to wait until the enrollment period is open to up your plan. Its not a qualifying life event so you cant change your plan until open enrollment or whenever your companies enrollment period is open.

You’d have to wait until open enrollment or until your baby is born to change plans. Which ever comes first.
