Should I chaperone my son's first date? He's 14

My son is going on a date later and it will be his first date. His girlfriend offered to pick him up (Shes 16) but I told her I'd be more comfortable if I was the one who drove him there. My son is very mature but I'm worried about him being alone because he usually only goes places with a group of friends or with his dad & I. Plus I don't want anything sexual going down. But he's getting older so idk. What do I do?

Personally my son would be going on a date unsupervised until he is 16. I would just go but not be a third wheel just give them space.

Older? Umm he’s 14 he’s a child still. I would not allow this. I mean it’s not like he’s looking for wife right? Like I understand kids need to live a little but 14? Shouldn’t he be watch toy story or playing with legos? Ultimately it’s up to you.

When I was 14 my dad would let my boyfriend and I go on dates, but just to the movies and the mall and he had to be the one to drive us and drop us off. I don’t think id trust such a new driver with my child, and I also feel like 16 may be too old for a 14 year old.

My child wouldn’t be going on a date alone until at least 16, and I wouldn’t allow that kind of age gap.
So I guess if I was in your position and had to choose I’d chaperone.

I've never been on a supervised date and I was a teen mom, so I suggest you go and watch them, but still give them some space to get to know each other.

Yes, it’s his first date. I would go but just stay far & give them their space. I mean i do have to trust him to an extent. It may seem old school & whatever but it sets the tone for his dating life. I’ll lose the reigns as he gets older or goes on more dates.

My first date was when I was 15 and the boy picked me up. We just went to the movies 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can see why you want to drive him there though.
