Single mother can’t be a member of the church

( it’s an Episcopalian denomination)

Which I was baptized as

I was wanting to become a member of a church and I was going through the classes and the priest came up in front of everyone and said, they don’t accept sex before marriage and or they don’t do same sex marriages in their church

I was trying to get my daughter baptized here and already spoke with the lady in charge

I am not married so they obviously would know I had sex before marriage

And would look down upon this...

I am a single mom

I am not sure how I felt about all of this

Apart of me understands this church is by the Bible and traditional but another part of me feels judged and the whole purpose of Christianity is not not judge others

I’m not complaining I’ve just never been put in this position. It’s already a hard reminder how judged you are on a daily basis of being a single mother and it’s challenges and now I can’t even be a member of a church
