What do you do to get out

We live in the midwest and about 30 minutes away from our friends and families. We have had cabin fever pretty good. I have a really good routine now and am trying to get my 9 month out as much as possible to be active and to be social. This week he has had lunch with his grandma, toddler swim and play with a friend of mine, a playdate with another family, and he is scheduled for a reading time at a library. I also have been incorporating more sensory play every day such as painting and walking on bubble wrap. I am curious what other moms do on a budget to get out in the winter and to keep busy hands occupied and little minds growing?
