Registering for cloth diapers (ftm)

I’m a ftm and planning to cloth diaper. No one on my side or my husbands side have cloth diapered so our parents have no frame of reference for what to get (lol I barely do).

I’ve heard that you won’t know what kind of diapers work best for your baby until you try them so you should get a few brands. What brands would you suggest for a newborn/under 3 month? I’m hoping to get a variety and after I see which I like the most I can buy more second hand. How many of each should I register for? I’m hoping to have a 30-36 diaper stash.

I’m also hoping to use primarily covers and prefolds since we don’t have an in-home washer dryer and I’ll have to do all the washing by hand 😬
