Nipple shield help!

Has anyone used one and then stopped? My baby is 13 weeks and we have used one from birth (was syringe fed until milk came on). I always kept trying to get bub to latch, sometimes he would but only for a few sucks. I gave up hope around week 8. Went to a mothers group and another woman also used one from birth and then magically her baby latched in the shower. So I tried in the shower since he is so calm and wasn’t super hunger. IT WORKED! It was the first time he’s ever fed without it for more than 4 or 5 sucks! He continues to latch properly and feed from me now, although it’s been little over 24 hours.

But the issue is that he’s gone from feeding 25-35 minutes with the shield to 10 or less without it. Is that normal?
