Should I have Any hope?

Question

Went in for my first prenatal appt at 6w4d. Had a transvaginal ultrasound and The baby was measuring 6w2d.
Doctor couldn’t find the heartbeat or fetal pole and is basically already trying to schedule me for a D and C. 
My hcg levels are just over 48,000 and progesterone is perfect. She said because the levels are that high she should definitely have found or seen the heartbeat.
During the US she kept saying she could see a “flicker” of something off to the right but couldn’t pick it up. She even said she thought she was seeing blood flow but since she couldn’t pick up the heartbeat that the baby was basically not going to happen. She said “I can see the baby and the sac just fine”...so why is she so quick to rule it a miscarriage? Am I just holding on to false hope?
She is having me come back on Monday to see if anything changes but she literally didn’t give me any inclination that there was any chance at all.

I would get another ultrasound in a week. If the doctor won’t do one then find a private clinic.

How certain are you of when you ovulated? Were you temping? If not, I’d hold onto some hope. And I certainly wouldn’t do anything permanent before being sure. I’d personally prefer to give it a whole week to grow before the next ultrasound but Monday should give you a better idea. As long as there isn’t an obvious risk to your health like evidence of an ectopic or infection, you don’t have to do anything until you’re certain and ready. I had a MMC at 9 weeks and was given the options of waiting to pass it naturally, Misoprostol (drug to induce passing of the tissue at home), or a D&C. If this is a loss, the tendency will be to second-guess. Wait until you have enough info that you know your rational side will be able to firmly lay out the facts and *know* deep down that the pregnancy wasn’t viable.

At 6 weeks it could be still too early you could wait until 8 weeks and 2 days behind realy isn’t a huge difference!! You still have hope

Get a second opinion. I wouldn’t get a D&C until you wait awhile and start bleeding or they can’t find a heart beat in a few more weeks

She's most likely preparing you for the possibility... it's hard news to hear whether there is a possibility or not. Since she scheduled a followup, she's not asking you to do anything yet.
