🔴Discharge questions - confused🔴

I’ve had brown discharge for over a week now and my period is late by 5 days but I don’t know if this is also a period because at first it was white and brown discharged mixed and now it’s brown and red. So was it just brown discharge you can get before your period and then that mixed with me period? Ive also been on birth control for almost 8 months now. So is it brown and weird cause of my period control?
