Newborn screening?

My son had his newborn screening done in the hospital. The results came back inconclusive or that something wasn’t right. We went to the health department and had them re done and yet again the same result. We already know he is a carrier of the sickle cell trait, but what could cause it to come back inconclusive twice ? I don’t have much info on it and they haven’t told me much. Just a little worried !

Was it inconclusive like something is wrong, or were they unable to test due to how the sample was collected? Ours was drawn by hospital we birthed at. I got a letter weeks later they couldn’t test due to sample collection error. It’s very specific process we were told for how much blood goes within this series of circles on a card. So we were directed to local children’s hospital to redo. Week after that we were called by them to say the card was never sent off and sat there over a long holiday wkend and is now no good. So we return to children’s hospital and they redraw, their second attempt and our third overall. Weeks later we get a letter again it was not collected properly and can’t be tested 🤦‍♀️I was furious. Sticking my baby multiple times after repeat trips downtown with infant in a germy hospital and by this point we were trying to get a newborn screening on and almost three month old. Our pediatrician agreed that we don’t have any worrisome conditions in either family history and probably would’ve seen anything concerning in baby by now so we opted not to let the test be repeated again.
