Spent $100 without talking to my husband. Am I wrong?
So my husband and I are doing ok financially, but anytime we want to buy something for ourselves that costs more than $100 we usually just run it by each other. It’s not like we are asking for permission, it’s like hey, I want to buy these shoes, they are $150. It’s usually like ok that’s cool, or it might be, just wait until next paycheck. Nbd
So I got a $100 amazon gift card for my birthday from my brother almost a year ago. I totally forgot about it, until my husband found it about a month ago, and was like oh we have this gift card. We share money and share accounts, but it really was my gift card. If he wanted to order something from amazon of course we would have used the gift card, but at the time we didn’t.
So with corona, I decided to order some things for the house to avoid the store. I got 2 big things of laundry detergent (one for our clothes then a free and clear for our infant and toddler) I was lucky enough to find a 4 pack of water wipes ( I have 2 in diapers) I got shampoo and conditioner for the family (just normal ones, not like salon quality) and I got a little teething set and stuffed bunny for my baby for Easter and a little bubble machine for my son ($20!)
So I used the gift card 🤷🏻♀️
We were thinking of getting this little mini swing set for our kids, it’s just a slide and a swing, it’s perfect for our 1 year old, and $150. My husband suggested we use the gift card, but I told him there’s only a few dollars left. He was mad I used it without consulting with him. My argument is that it was my birthday gift, and I bought stuff for the house and for the kids! If I wanted to buy myself something, I would have ran it buy him, but I always go to target and spend over $100 on baby stuff and cleaning supplies without consulting with him, because it’s stuff we NEED not stuff I want, and it’s never an issue!
Was I wrong??
