Two weddings

I was wondering if anyone had two weddings/wedding receptions and had any advice

My boyfriend and I joke about getting married but it’s hard to actually plan a realistic wedding with our family and cultural differences...

He’s Mexican/Catholic and his family is HUGE with them living in both the U.S. and Mexico. I’m White/Lutheran and I only 13 family members in total (including extended relatives).

My family is much more reserved, quiet and nature based, while his family loves to party and celebrate. I love being part of both but quite honestly I can’t see being able to find a happy medium with our wedding.

I was thinking that it might be best to have two separate weddings and receptions. Obviously it might be a bit more expensive but the one for my family would be very small and intimate.

Does anyone have any good ideas on what to do?
