2 year old daughter’s wrists keeps dislocating
So back when my daughter was about 22 months old, she threw a tantrum while I was holding her hand and just dropped all her weight while I still held her hand.
She was really hurt and wouldn’t let anyone touch her awful looking wrist. It ended up being dislocated.
She’s now 2.5 years old and both of her wrists keep dislocating. I’m so careful with her joints because they’re just constantly loose feeling. I’m an ortho tech so I know what it looks like and I’m able to avoid the hospital by (properly) popping it back into place.
I’ve brought her to her dr after each time it has happened, but she’s unconcerned and says toddlers are rough, but her wrists dislocated with barely any play and I’m so tired of seeing her in so much pain. She constantly guards her wrists now and it’s becoming a source of pretty severe anxiety for me.
And it’s not just her wrists that have issues. Her knees pop and roll weird and her ankles can bend at awkward angles. Her shoulders can be moved. It’s crazy and I’m just at a loss at this point of what I can do to keep her safe. This is the 2nd pediatrician to say that she’s just a “rough and tumble kid.” She IS a rough and tumble kid, but that doesn’t mean that she should constantly have dislocated joints.
Does anyone have any advice so that my daughter can stop being in so much pain and so that I’m not flagged by CPS or something? I’m so sad for her.
