NIPT results - how long did you have to wait?

TL;DR: NIPT results are taking longer than expected and my prenatal care has been abysmal and I’m frustrated.

I’m high risk because of my pregnancy history. My first pregnancy was my daughter, who has Down syndrome, and I had a LOT of complications. The next 3 pregnancies ended a 13, 5, and 9 weeks. So my insurance decided that I could ONLY see one specific clinic, instead of the doctor I’d been seeing and moved. I do not like this new clinic, but I literally can’t go elsewhere.

I finally had my NIPT bloodwork done last Friday. I was supposed to be done alongside my first actual ultrasound WEEKS ago, but the doctor submitted it incorrectly to insurance, who denied it. I spent HOURS on the phone over a couple of weeks fighting my insurance and trying to get it reversed (they claimed that I’d already had the ultrasound and bloodwork done because of the way it was submitted). I finally got it fixed, but by then it was time for my next appointment, so the doctor just said they’d combine appointments and do it all together. Then because of COVID-19, my appointment was cancelled and all they were willing to do was bloodwork. I don’t know my due date because at my second appointment (first was literally just hours of paperwork that I could have done online and I never even saw a doctor), the doctor did a quick pregnancy confirmation US and took all of one single measurement and moved my due date back 10 days. I don’t trust that number, because I’d had my HCG drawn weeks earlier and those numbers aligned perfectly with my original due date. And it would also mean I got my very strong positive test at only 3 DPO. So I’m somewhere between 15 and 17 weeks. Anatomy scan isn’t until mid-May now because it was postponed and I have had next to no prenatal care. I’m upset and frustrated and scared. I’ll be between 21-23 weeks when I finally get a real ultrasound.

Until then, the only way I’ll know if the baby is hopefully ok are the NIPT results. With my first, I had the NIPT done instead of an amino when they saw that she probably had Down syndrome at 18 weeks. It took less than a week to get the results and I was expecting similar this time. I don’t know why, since everything else has been such a mess. Anyway, how long did it take everyone else to get results? I’ve waited a whole week and I’m getting antsy.

*update* Called in on Monday and they told me to call back Friday if I hadn’t heard yet.

*update 2* Exactly 2 weeks (10 business days) after they took my blood, I have results finally! No chromosomal abnormalities!!!! And I’m having a boy, which surprises me. I totally thought he was a girl this whole time. 🤣
