Started the mini pill and bleeding a lot?

I started the mini pill (progesterone only) after having my IUD removed and take it very regularly, the odd time an hour or two either side of the time I’d usually take it depending on my schedule, but that is rare. However, I’m finding that I’ll bleed for a few days (heavily, super plus tampon every hour) and then have a few days off and do the same again.

I’ve always had very heavy irregular periods (every 4 - 7 weeks) and no doctor seems too concerned about that, however, I’m literally having mini periods every few days on this pill - so I’ve not got a sex life anyway!

Would it better to just come off it for good and use condoms? I’ve been on it 2 months now and it’s costing my lots in pads and tampons.
