How long after blood show?

I’m 38 weeks pregnant, second baby first was induced.

I was in hospital last night due to contractions, was told I was 2cm dilated. They let me go home to wait it out as it would be more comforting. I was having contractions all night, I was able to sleep for a little while. I just recently went to the toilet & when I wiped I had mucus discharge with blood in it. Does this mean I’m getting closer? I haven’t had many contractions since waking but am in some pain
