How much housework should the working spouse do? With children involved?
I work 50-60 hours a week in a hospital and I’m pregnant, usually overnights and my husband is basically unemployed he occasionally does grocery delivery but very infrequently maybe 5-10 deliveries a week. Our son is in daycare full time and had been for six months while he’s been trying to get a better job he has maybe 1-2 interviews every 2-3 weeks not very frequently. He does most of the housework, we got in an argument today about doing the housework, he claims I treat him like a servant the only thing I ever ask that he does is the laundry, he generally cooks every night by his own choosing, and does the dishes because she’s the only one who really cooks, if I make dinner I clean up the dishes I use right away in most circumstances only rime I don’t is If I’m in a hurry, but I’ll at least rinse it or fill it with water to soak. I honestly feel like I shouldn’t have to do much housework, I do I’m the only one who separates the laundry, cleans the kitchen or mops or sweeps. Obviously if I have 2-3 days off in a row I pitch in I’ll take care of my son on the weekends so my husband can relax, cause he gets up with our son every morning cooks him food and takes him to daycare. I take care of every financial obligation we share I rarely ask for him to give me any of his money. For bills unless needed. Do you think I’m being unreasonable?
