Blood test gender?

Hi everyone
After my ultrasound last Thursday
I had a blood test to rest for down syndrome etc. I heard that that blood test can test for the gender also? I seen in here that a few people know their babies gender and their due date is after mine. I'm due oct 13. If that's true no one told me that it can do that so I emailed my midwife to find out

Yes it’s the NIPT test.  I took the test at 10w2d and were having a girl

I had my lab and ultrasound testing last Monday, they said it wuld take 5-7 business days I just called this morning and found out my results

They typically take blood with the NT scan. So it might not have been the test that does the gender also. If they took blood for the NIPT ( that is a blanket name for many name brands test that all do the same thing) yes you should be able to find the gender when the results are in.
