FTM needing advice....

Ka

There are some things I really want to clear up that I've heard and being that I can't ask his pediatrician until he's here thanks to this mess, I'd like to know what y'all say:

1. I've heard from my two midwives that take care of me to start tummy time from the first time you take them home. But I read in a mother to be book that you have to wait until their umbilical cord falls off...my question is...what is true lol and if it's TRUE to do tummy time...how do i ensure all is well with his umbilical cord?

2. I've heard from one midwife that I shouldn't drink coffee/caffiene during breastfeeding....but my other midwife (who gave birth recently) came in drinking coffee and said she exclusively breastfeeds...am I to look forward to having coffee or do I need to hold off lol

3. I've heard not to give newborns a bath during the first week of their lives, but have heard from moms around me that was on of the first things they did with theirs...and not to apply lotion until their skin is done peeling.

4. One midwife told me not to pump until about 6 weeks or until I get my baby to latch really well and a good routine....another said that it's okay to pump as soon as I get home....I'm so confused!

I must mention that my midwives have been separated due to the whole thing with one being pregnant and so I haven't had consistent care with both of them. I trust both of them, but these things it doesn't seem like they have a good consensus on - I have told the other midwife "well this is what so n so said" and they keep to their opinion.

I must mention, my pediatrician was supposed to do a consult with me etc. But during this outbreak, they've just told me to come in when he is a week old to do is his first appt.

Please help lol
