We have a rule. If one person falls asleep before the other, the person who's awake can finish that episode, but they don't move on to another. Then when we watch again, that person re-watches the part of the episode the other one hasn't seen. We let each other know if we don't like a show/we don't care if the other person watches alone.

I can’t lie, I’ve done this to my fiancé but he doesn’t get upset & I offer to go back & rewatch the episodes if he’s really into it. He’s also done it to me tho where we’ve started a show together & he finished it without me but again, I don’t get upset. Every couple is different. I think the reason is different for us is because we like to watch different things. I don’t get upset when he watches something without me because it may not have been something I was into anyway & vice versa. 
Just talk to him about it if it bothers you.
