When I rub my clit, after a while when I feel like I’m close to having an orgasm I always start to shake and after that I can’t go any further so I just stop master bating there.
Is this normal or am I doing something wrong, I’m very confused.

That just means your getting closer, used to happen to me when I was younger and didn’t know to keep going. Push through and keep going! It stopped feeling like I “couldn’t keep going” after a few times. 
You need to push through to hand the release after all the build up (shaking in your case)
