How do I know if a qualify for the US stimulus check?

No one ever taught me how to grow the fuck up, so doing taxes, and stuff like that I'm lost. 
I'm an 18yo university Student who is claimed as an independent. I have only worked for my University paper for a period of 4 months and any money I made from that work study went directly to tuition (it never even landed in my account). I have gotten help from FAFSA in the past to pay for school. 
I have absolutely no fucking idea what I'm doing 90% of the time when it comes to this stuff.

Do you mean claimed as a dependent, as in on your parents taxes? If you’re a dependent over 16 (so age 17 plus) you will not receive a check and your parents or whoever claims you will not receive the $500 dependent stipend.

Claimed as an independent? Do you mean dependent? I’m guessing you’ve never filed taxes? I think you would have had to file taxes to qualify. If your parents claimed you as a dependent you do not qualify. Scholarships and grants don’t count as income and wouldn’t affect this. I turned 18 in 2020 and my parents claimed me as a dependent, so I don’t qualify. A dependent just means they pay for things for you and take care of you to an extent.

If you’ve never filed taxes then you won’t get a check. And if your parents claimed you for their taxes you won’t get a check.
