What should I do

My ex says he misses me but he’s so hot and cold.

He told me a couple weeks ago that he was working on himself so if there is a slim chance for us he would like to start over.

We have been texting a lot since he said that but tbh its just regular conversation. We went for a walk earlier this week and he was telling me about his family issues and where he is in life. He finally realized that he needs to get out of his comfort zone. We kind of teased each other with dirty texts but idk. When he came to hang out with me, I express that I can’t be with him if he’s not willing to take the steps to grow because I’m currently going through the same phase. He told me he understood and we talked more about his plans for life and etc. he ended up realizing it was time for him to stop talking and do more with those plans.

Idk I guess even after all that I think I’m being selfish and want to actually feel wanted by him. It just feels like to me our emotional connection is gone.
