Do I need baby detergent?

Question

I’m 30 weeks and will be starting to wash all her clothes, towels, bedding etc. but I’m just wondering if I really need to use specific baby detergent or if I can just wash her things in the stuff I use. I don’t really understand why people buy different things... wouldn’t her clothes end up being washed with mine anyways? I’m a FTM so please help me out.

You dont need baby stuff, dreft  is actually awful. But I would reccomend washing baby and all of your stuff in something more natural. All free and clear is great.

The free and clear types are fine, but I found they don’t really get stains out, especially newborn poop (bf yellow kind-not sure about formula). I love the smell of the baby detergent it takes me back I washed everything initially in that and then anything that got stained.

They say to use baby specific detergent because their skin is super sensitive and they can react easily to the chemicals in normal detergents. 
If you already use a very general/hypoallergenic one it might be okay but it’s hard to say until your baby is born and you see if there is a reaction or not.

I would say get a baby one just in case. You dont know what you’re child will be sensitive to when it’s born, I would buy a baby one just in case and use your regular detergent first.

There's nothing even called baby detergent here, as in doesn't exist! Use your normal detergent, baby will come in contact with your clothes/sheets/towels regardless.

Used our usual laundry detergent. She was always snuggled up on us being exposed to our detergent anyways, didnt make sense to buy something different for just her.

I washed all of my babies clothes with tide free and gentle, 🤔 I think that’s what it’s called.  It’s cheaper than dreft

No. Unless you wash all fabrics in it, including yours, youre just saying money. Even if you do, is still a wate of money. Use your regular detergeant unless baby reacts to it.
