How long after a missed period should you take a pregnancy test?

History: I suffered a miscarriage a year ago and we’ve been trying to conceive ever since. It was traumatizing to say the least. The same day I found out I was pregnant, was the same day I found out I miscarried.

Now, every month I get disappointed when my period comes. It’s usually pretty much always on time, the app is accurate 98% of the time. Today marks three days late, I took a test yesterday (against my better judgement) and it was negative. I can’t tell if I’m creating these symptoms in my head because I want to be pregnant or if they’re really happening. It runs through my mind all day and night, I feel as if I’m going to have a panic attack.
