Potty training speech and language delayed 2.5 year old:
Late January next year, my son is due to start Kindy. He’ll be 3 years and 4 months. And they want him to at least know the basics. I know it’s still a while, but with speech and language delayed kids, I’ve been told it can take a while?
I started potty training on Sunday afternoon. He did one pee in the potty after he woke up at lunch (I prompted), then he went by himself an hour later, but didn’t take his underwear off, oops. 🤪
Yesterday, I didn’t potty train because he had diarrhoea, so thought it was best not to.
We resumed again today. Every 20-30 minutes for 5 minutes on the potty. From 9am (woke up) to 12pm (nap), he stayed dry. Did maybe 3 pees while asleep until 2pm. Resumed every 20-30 minutes for 5 minutes. Stayed dry until 4, then unfortunately, we went outside for play, and he peed his underwear while I wasn’t looking.
Is this ok? Am I doing something wrong? Tips? Suggestions?
