Pacifier while breast feeding?

I haven’t had the baby yet but I’ve been trying to determine what would be best for when baby gets here. I’ve read that some people prefer not to use a pacifier while breastfeeding because it interferes with the baby latching. Can anyone explain this more to me? Or tell me your experiences?

I introduced a pacifier on say one or two and exclusively breast fed. It never had an effect on our son's latch or feeding. It's been a godsend because when he falls asleep, I can trade my nipple for the pacifier and just put him down to sleep. 
Using them is also supposed to lower the risk of SIDS in babies under 4months

I gave both of my breast babies one the first night. They had latched well with no problems prior to that

We started giving an Avent Soothie pacifier at about 3 days old and never had a problem. It was a great thing to help get her to sleep and never ever caused issues with feeding. I also think it helped adjusting to bottle feeding while I was at work.

When my son was in the nicu they gave him one before I could even get in there to see him, which I wasn’t happy about because we didn’t plan on using it. He never had confusion, but he also hated it & spit it out every 5 seconds if someone tried to use it.

My sons pediatrician told us that nipple confusion isn’t real and with my experience with it he’s right. My son was ebf but would and does use a pacifier which can reduce the risk of sids if they sleep with it at night. I also used a nipple shield for a little bit as my nipple had open sores and I was in soo much pain. My son has never had an issue with it. I recommend it. It helps free you up bc some of the babies and at least the ones I know love falling to sleep and sleeping with your nipple in their mouth. Pacifier really helps keep a baby like that to sleep!
