Is it ok that my ob doesent do strep B?

So today I asked if they do strep b and they said they stopped testing in their hospital system is that safe ? I know most people get it and honestly I hate that I’m stuck with this shity ob clinic but can’t change due to my Medicaid 😏

Not sure about policies. I'm in Canada and just got swabbed a couple days ago at my check-up. I was 36 + 3 when I got it done.

I was told it depended on how you were delivering. Since im having a c section they didnt swab me for it. But if you're doing vaginal then they should, if not they will probably just treat you like you have it and give you antibiotics while youre in labor

I got mine done at 35 weeks because doctor said if positive, during vaginal delivery it can be harmful to the baby. Thankfully I’m negative 🙌🏻

So the thing with gb tests is that you could test positive one day and negative a few days later and vice versa. So while you are negative/positive at the time of the test it doesn’t mean you will still be the results when you have your baby. Also, EVERYONE has gb bacteria in their vagina, the issue is if it colonizes. To keep that from happening you can do a gb protocol which usually includes increasing vitamin C, taking a good probiotic, taking apple cider vinegar, and eating garlic (either actual garlic or high potency pills).

Hmm that’s odd. My OB kept reminding me that at my 35 week checkup, so this coming Tuesday, I will be getting checked since I was like 30 weeks.
