I'm pretty mad. I went to get my cat catgrass yesterday because she's taken to start nibbling my house plants. I picked out two for nice roots and nice leaves. I should've pulled the plant and checked the husks. I brought them home and started to replant. The husks are moldy. White fuzz crawling up the plant as well as black, white, and green mold on parts of seed husks. I called my pet store (big chain for being smart), and they said I could exchange them at the very least since they can't do refund/returns. I wanted the catgrass so I wasn't even interested in a refund.
Idk if anyone knows but mold can affect cats behavior as well as health.
So I take them in, I'm trying to be as polite as possible. I garden a ton at home, I know this just was a mistake in overwatering and no biggie, right? I've had it happen to my own seeds plenty. But after i start looking and have gone through almost every plant... all of them have mold. Every. Single. One. I timidly look at the cashier who helped me and told her I think they all have mold. She called for a manager herself and then a different cashier, without seeing ANY OF THE PLANTS tried telling me it's normal white fluff in the plants, she has one at home, and the other bits must be perlite. Ya know, those pure white rocks for aeration in soil? Totally those when I have black, green, white spotted seed husks right? I almost lost it, I got pretty close, showing her every plant and asking what exactly I'm seeing if these things are supposedly normal. She couldnt tell me, kept doubling down on it's normal. The manager came over, heard everything, saw the plants and gave me not only information on how to do a disinfectant spray with vinegar for the mold, but she recommended to go through each plant and pull out what is moldy so it hopefully doesnt spread through more of the plant. She apologized because they had just came in shipment and again, they can't really refund me at this time. I get it. But I'm still pretty upset that someone tried telling me, without seeing or knowing, that I'm wrong about the mold. Sorry. That's mold in the pic. I'm not being an unruly customer, I wasnt even being snippy until someone tried to tell me 1000% wrong information on something that could HURT MY CAT and refused to listen to me when I tried showing her myself. I get it, some customers are total assholes because they think they are always right and have entitlement problems, but that shit wasn't happening here and you were just being the entitled bitchy older cashier because you *think* I'm trying to give you guys a bad name or something. No. I just want my cat, the thing that gives me motivation everyday to keep going, to be safe.
I'm picking through it now and.. I just am remembering that and it's making me fume the more and more mold i find.
