HCG LEVEL CONFUSION

So I started my AF last Friday i went in on Tuesday to get blood work done i have to have a surgery to get my left ovary and give removed so the doctor prescribed me birth control to take until I get the surgery. My HCG levels came back as 83.01 but my doctor instructed me to take the birth control. I only had two full days of bleeding the rest of the days up until today have been light pink spotting to brown spotting. Should I take a test and get a second opinion before starting the birth control?
