What’s the tea on green beret soldiers?

So I’ve known this guy for 5 years but because of medical school and my hectic schedule I couldn’t date him plus, When we first started talking he was a marine and was stationed in Japan. But we always talked and he’s always been there for me. Fast forward 5 years later, he became a Green Beret special op soldier and I’m a doctor so my schedule isn’t as hectic and I’ve decided to give dating another try so I thought okay this man has always been there for me, he’s always been open about liking me I should give him a chance, right? Problem is I’ve always heard negative things about dating soldiers, and how they’re whores lol but because I’m a physician I don’t want my time to be wasted. So like the title says has anyone dated a special op soldier? What was your experience? Tips?

Well anyone in the military no matter what the branch, it either makes you a better man or makes you  an even worse man. I don’t know him personally so I can’t tell you his character, but I would talk to him, that’s probably your best bet and to find out what his intentions are and see if you can honestly trust him. If he wants a relationship or friends with benefits or hook up. Communication is your best bet. Like with anyone dating there’s always a possibility of cheating and always a possibility of faithfulness, it all depends on the person and their character. Personally I will not date somebody in the military, I have before and had a bad experience. He was a complete asshole that’s just the nicest way of putting it, he was a manipulative he was abusive you name it. So on top of that sometimes they can come with PTSD and other issues as well. Just know what you’re getting yourself into, have a good talk with him and see. Good luck either way. ￼￼

My fiancé is seriously thinking of special forces, more specifically the green berets, and he’s a marine vet who did a short stent in Japan at the begging of his military career. His current job requires lots of travel anyway so we’re used to making that work, but I agree with G.G. 
Communicating your needs in a partner is important. It’ll save you both a lot of time. I also think that she hit the nail on the head when she said that the military can make men greater or far worse then when they started their career. 
I’d go as far as to call him and be as direct as possible.
