Is it weird to use the mom’s maiden name as baby’s first name?

my mom did that with me, her maiden last name is Brooks. My dad's middle was Dennis and mine is Denise, so very family based.

Not at all. My MIL’s maiden name is my husband’s middle name and our son’s first name. Although we did adjust the pronunciation a smidge (French name).

That’s our plan if we have a boy - we would name him Nolan. My hubby was really close to his grandparents on his moms side and I love the name anyways. I don’t think it’s weird at all!

My sister in laws maiden name was benton. They were planning on naming their son benton, but then they changed it. But it's totally a normal and acceptable thing to do.

I love names with meaning- so if it’s a cute name, go for it! If it’s totally weird as a first name, maybe use it as a middle if you’re set on using it, for babies sake lol
