Does your MIL treat you well?

Question

If not often or she’s awful, how frequently do you see her? Do you have children and what is their relationship with her? Do you limit their time with her as well?

My MIL is OK. She wasn’t very good to my husband (to be) when he was growing up. She abused him, mentally and physically. His parents divorced when he was 14 and he lived with his dad and didn’t speak to his mom more than maybe 10 times until we got together when he was 22. I didn’t know the whole story about her until after I helped “reconnect” them. Now my husband pretty much forgets what she did, but I cant. She very much wants all of his attention and pulls pity parties and “poor me” stunts to him all the time. He wants to leave my daughter (who is 5 months old) with her and I absolutely will not. She isn’t very good with her (feeding her, calming her, playing) the few times she has seen my daughter. And if she treated my husband the way she did, I don’t want to think of her doing anything like that to my daughter. I tolerate her 🤷🏻‍♀️

We saw her like twice a year before having our baby last year. Then we started seeing them every week or 2. Then she screwed up while babysitting so we didnt see them again for a while. Now with everything going on we havent seen her in person in 3 months. 
Shes gotten a lot better since we had our baby and much more respectful to me but that doesnt take away 10 years of monster in law crap.
I'll let her see her granddaughter but I still want nothing to do with her but as long as she behaves I don't want to take away my daughters relationship with her grandma.

My MIL was fine until we had kids. Now she is unbearable. She makes everything about her and just complains that she can’t see them when she wants but refuses to travel to see them and always wants us to come to her. She puts in her opinion on everything and if I didn’t respect my husband I would not bring my children around her. 
0/10 would not recommend.

I’ve known my fiancé since kindergarten, we dated when we were 13 for a little then split. During that time I only met his mom twice in kindergarten but never again. He had a child with his ex when he was 17 and I had a child with my ex when I was 18 so we started talking again and got back together when we were 19 , but two months after we started dating(I know Im quite stupid) I got pregnant by him because I was only 5 months post partum and he went to tell his mother and her reaction was “Your girlfriend is a whore. She’s a f*cking whore. You’re going to kill yourself because your children will have no stability blah blah blah” so I’ve never met her and she has never met her grandkids from me. She also tried running his dad over with a truck last year during their divorce so I’m good on not meeting her😂😂

My MIL and I get along better than my mom and I do. I see my MIL probably at least every other day. She’s so sweet and a great grandma to our kids

She’s a terrible person. My husband almost cut her off a little while ago but ultimately he didn’t. She’s his mother so I’m not going to ask him to cut ties, that’s his decision. Since he’s still talking to her (every couple months) she still visits the kids when she wants. She’s visited twice in the past 2 years, last time just before the lockdown. She doesn’t really do anything with them, though. She doesn’t hold them or play with them. She gives them obnoxious toys and that’s the end of her interaction with them.

I love mine. She’s a laid back hippie type that will do anything for her children (and their spouses). She checks in with us at least once a week to know if we’re doing alright. She’s excited to become a Gigi this October. We do live across the country from family though so it sucks that we can’t see family as much. I talk to her a lot on the phone and when our son comes we’ll be Skyping a lot.

She’s mentally ill so it’s not her fault, but she’s awful and half our kids have never met her. We just refer to her as “Daddy’s mother” because she is not a grandmother to our kids.

Nah she’s the craziest narcissistic person out there. We see his family every 2-4 weeks and she’s always trying to watch our baby. She’s started arguments at my bridal showers, wedding (even tried to stop our wedding), and baby showers. She’s publicly humiliated me at my baby shower - and one of her friends actually apologized to my mother due to her shitty behavior. 
So when we called her out on it the next day, she started there waterworks woah is me BS, said I was overly sensitive and that I don’t understand her humor. Keep in mind this is after she called me fat/big in church. 🙄 So she finally admitted that as the mother I get to determine how often I see the grand baby... so we keep it to every 2-4 weeks. Needless to say when she is gone I won’t miss her and that makes me really sad. I want to have a relationship but she’s so damn toxic to be around. 
Thankfully hubby is adopted... we found his birth mom and she’s hella cool. We love her so much even though we’ve only known her for 7 months. She treats us well.
