Moving with a Toddler?

We’re *hopefully* moving with my toddler at the end of the month. It’s two blocks away, still on the same road. I’m not expecting her to take it well. Sorry, she just turned 2 in February! 
Any tips? Anything you wish you knew before you moved?

We moved 3 times before my daughter turned 2 years. From Oahu to Oregon to Iowa (2x in Iowa) and she never had any problems. In this age they are attached to you and will go with u even to Mount Everest 😉If your child was 15, there would be completely different story but u will do just fine. Just keep up with feeding and nap schedule as much as u can.

I would have a parent or babysitter take them while we were moving just to make it more efficient. Have everything set up in the new place so they can go check out their new room, space, see where stuff is after it’s organized. Unpacking with littles is such a production.

My daughter was 2 yrs and a few months when we moved. We talked about it a lot before we did it and we talked it up a lot. “You new room is so nice!” And so on. I got a few new things for her room that were exciting. And I didn’t change anything else (like crib to toddler bed or try to potty train) until I really felt like she was settled in our new house. She did great. Kids usually adapt better than us adults 😂 Good luck with the move!

I’ve moved when my kid was 3 weeks old, 20 months old (this was our big 2-hour different state move), and 2.5 years old. He was totally fine each time. We talked about it a lot, he saw the new places each time we signed the lease so he had some idea of what we meant by “new house.”

We’ve moved multiple times with kids. Just explain that you have a new house. We have lived in our new house for a year and we still frequently drive by “the old house” and wave at it. It helped us that we owned both houses for about 6 months before moving so she had time to warm up to it.

We moved when my son was 2 and then again when he was 4 and both times we just made sure his room was set up quickly. We bought him something for his new room. He was always excited and took it well both times.

We moved when my LO was about 18 months. It was actually much easier than expected. I just made sure that on moving day we set up his room and he stayed with my sister in law for the day to stay away from all the commotion.

Moved 3 or 4 times with my toddler, we were homeless for a bit...it wasn’t as hard as we thought. She just adapted to her environment easy. Get her excited about her new home, new room for her toys! It’s a lot easier now that when older as friends are made and can be broken...that was my childhood 😊
