Not chewing

My son will NOT chew food. He just won't. I started trying table foods at 7 months. You give him a piece of egg, he swallows it. Bread, anything he tries to swallow whole. We've tried over dramatically chewing our food while he has food. We've tried crunchy, soft, texture. He just will NOT do it. At his 9 month well visit he saw a doctor that was not his own. She said, ignore table foods for now. So we tried "stage 3" foods to see if we could work him up to it. He STILL WILL NOT CHEW! I am really concerned at this point as his birthday is in 2 weeks. I don't want to be that mom that feeds her kid purees at a year old but I also don't want him choking on a piece of bread! I'm SO lost. Does anyone else have this issue or anyone have advice?
