Were you raised by your mother/parents to be a “good housewife”

After seeing countless posts on here about wives/mothers/gf’s being trapped in their marriages & relationships b/c of financial dependency . I’m a little curious as to why they chose to be content in solely allowing the guy (or girl) to take care of the finances. Zero judgment here just curious.

Also I’m not talking about the “shit happens” situations like where one loses a job and then the other has to become the breadwinner. I’m talking about people who intentionally go into a relationship with the mindset of “a man is supposed to provide”. Like was this something taught at home or something you seen, and want for yourself?
