Night time routine?

Ok soooo I’m still nursing my almost 8 month old to sleep 🤦🏻‍♀️ I know this is the worst sleep crutch. So my question is what do your bedtime routines look like?
Current routine is bath or straight to lotion, diaper change, and sleep sack on, bed time story, then nurse to sleep in semi quiet living room with the blinds closed. 
I’m going to start by feeding him then putting his sleep sack on in his dark room then place him in his crib tomorrow. 
He also wakes up and feeds at least once a night usually twice. So I’ll wake up, give him one boob, change his diaper and give him the other side then put him down, usually a 30-40 minute ordeal.

Just wanted to say for you or anyone reading - feeding to sleep is only a problem if YOU don't want to do it.
So many guides and websites give all these rules for how your baby will sleep, but nursing to sleep is biologically completely normal, and not something 'bad' you've done.
It won't stop your baby sleeping through or self settling, they will learn those skills eventually, just maybe a month or two later than if sleep trained. My LO has always been nursed to sleep but she still self settles 9/10 times if she wakes in the night.
If you want to sleep train, go for it. Just don't feel bad if you don't want to!

I've always fed my babies to sleep and if they get up in the night I would feed them.
I never found it tiring to breastfeed at night as their bed was connected to mine so just took a few mins to grab them feed them and put them back.
My little ones went through the stage where they wouldn't beeastfeed too much during the day as there was too much going on and they were too nosey to focus. Night times was when they caught up on feeds so I wasnt interested in stopping them.
I got pregnant when my daughter was 8 months and my son 4 months. It was an absolute lifesaver to breastfeed them to sleep as it was just so quick and I was shattered from being pregnant.
I dont think there is anything wrong in feeding to sleep. Everyones circumstances are different, even babies are different so just do what works for you and your family.
Ive had no issues when it was time to wean. They were able to soothe themselves to sleep without tears. Kids are fast learners.

This is only a problem if you think it’s a problem. Super common and normal- so unless you want to make a change it’s totally okay!

We’ve been trying out a sleep routine of bath or straight to diaper change, pjs/sleep sack, feed, book. Then my husband walks her while closing the blinds, and has sound machine/lullabies on. We used to feed to sleep or had to rock her for 30 minutes. We’ve graduated to walking and holding her upright without rocking to get her more used to the bedtime routine and the opportunity to get sleepy. If we put her down to sleep awake, she usually cries and escalated to a full tantrum. This has happened in the middle of the night too if I didn’t feed her and tried to just pat/ let her self soothe. She’s gone an hour doing that or crying in our ears. So if it’s only been an hour of sleep I try to get her to go back to sleep with patting or repositioning her on her side, but if it’s 2 hours or so I’ll feed her to sleep. 
It’s challenging since so many sources say to break the sleep associations and then she’ll sleep through the night like the X amount of other babies that have been doing it for months. But our girl is strong willed and we don’t want to try the cry it out method as we the parents don’t want that and believe she will not benefit from that. So we’re trying to wean her from night feeds (shorter nursing sessions), and not rock her. It sometimes works, and every night is a little different. But we’re noticing a difference with her naps and it’s taking less to put her to sleep at night.

I went for a checkup at the doctor for my girl and they asked about her sleeping schedule. She usually woke up around 4 times a night and I would feed her every time. I would always go on to check on her. Doctor recommended me to stop nursing her every time and to not pick her up unless she was really crying instead of just being fussy. She now sleeps the whole night. I still hear her peep every now and then, but the doctors advice helped me a ton. I put extra pacifiers in her crib so she can grab one if she loses it and I also put in a couple teething toys so she can entertain herself and not need me all night. For us, it was seriously and overnight difference with letting her work it out instead of immediately picking her up and nursing her. I thought I was helping, turns out I was just hurting mine and her sleep schedule by feeding her all the time.

I nurse my 7 months old to sleep. He'll fall asleep for naps without nursing if my wife puts him down. I've completed switching up his routine but he tends to sleep well other than that. He'll sometimes wake up in the beginning of the night but usually sleeps at least 10 hours straight. He has been biting occasionally the last couple of days. Particularly when I was trying to nurse him to sleep. That was when I really thought about changing up routine.

Similar to you just different order. When it’s bedtime we go upstairs and I nurse. THEN we do a diaper, pjs, book, then bed. My husband and I take turns putting him down but he knows that once we do the routine it’s bedtime and doesn’t fight it or fuss to nurse.

A couple weeks ago I made the change of not nursing to sleep anymore and started putting her down awake! It’s been SO GREAT. 
Our routine now:
 I nurse her about 30 minutes before a nap or bed time downstairs where we spend most of the day.  
We go upstairs
Fresh diaper
Sleep sack 
Turn lights off
White noise machine 
Tell her it’s nap time and rub her back for a minute while holding her
Lay her in crib and say “goodnight Lily” 
But....I don’t change her pee diaper ever in the middle of the night....lol
