Relationship and Marriage advice

Okay so my boyfriend and I have been dating for about a year and a half. We have had our ups and downs up we always super good at talking things out even though we r both super stubborn. Lately we have been talking a lot about marriage. He’s in the military and leaving for a deployment in October/November ish. He wants to propose and thinks that if we are gonna get married might as well do it before he leaves because then his pay will increase plus we will get separation pay. I think that sounds practical and smart but idk a lot of people are telling me not to rush it and that’s a bad reason but I think it’s smart and reasonable but the idea of getting so soon is a little scary. I’ve never cared much about a wedding so he said we could just do court house and plan something nicer for when we get back. What do y’all think? Is is too soon to get engaged/married (we’ve been dating about a year and a half and he thinks we should get married in October which will be a little over a year and a half) and do u think the pay increase is a bad reason to get married before he leaves?
