Moving out tips?

How much money should i have saved before moving out on my own? It’ll be my first time i wanna make sure i do it right. I’m a college student, i have almost 10k saved. I plan on moving out in October/November and I’m still saving. I don’t wanna have to worry about rent or anything during my semesters so i can just focus on my studies.

Apartments in my area can be kind of pricey. I pay $800 a month & to move in I had to have my first months rent and my deposit. Usually you’re security deposit is the same as your rent. So I had to have $1600 before I moved in. 
Utilities depends. If you can find an apartment where everything, water, gas, and electric is included into your rent, they’re pretty hard to find, but that would be amazing. But most apartments don’t do that. Water is almost always included. But you may have to pay for electric and gas on your own. Neither are expensive though. I live with my fiancé and we have a toddler & our gas bill is maybe $30-50 a month and our electricity is no more than $80 a month. 
I would definitely suggest renting a storage unit unless you have a place to store all your items, but before even moving in, I would start accumulating apartment essentials. Especially the more expensive things, like furniture, ac units, vacuum cleaner, etc. because once you’re managing bills, you probably won’t make enough money to buy those things without having to save for them. And you’ve got quite the savings already so you’re definitely on the right track! Good luck!! 
Living on your own can be so scary but it’s so rewarding having your own space! I’ve been out of my dads house since I was 17 & it was tough at times, but always so worth the struggle!

It depends on the kind of situation you would be moving out to. Are you getting a place completely on your own or will you be sharing with an SO or friends? Are you looking for a room in someone’s house, a studio apartment or a one bedroom? 
I 1st moved out to renting a room in a lady’s basement, there was a shared kitchen & bathroom w/ another room renter & all three of us shared the laundry facilities, there was no living room area. I had a part time job & I thought it was all I could afford but eventually found a tiny studio apartment that was only $50 more & I liked living alone A LOT better. It’s good to think beyond just the money & think about your must haves (close to transit, laundry facilities in the building, safe neighborhood, close to school/work, etc. etc.) then start researching how much places are going for in your area 
I live Seattle & it’s pretty expensive here, my brother lives in Downtown in a building with a lot of amenities, he’s in a small studio apartment but it has washer/dryer in the unit, full bathroom & a dishwasher, he pays around $1500 a month, my parents live in a neighborhood about 20 minutes from Downtown in a two bedroom in a building w/ less amenities & they pay around $2200. I have lived in areas further out, in crummier buildings, usually no amenities, smaller units, sketchier neighborhoods & I paid a lot less but I also haven’t rented anything since 2011. 
Until you have a regular job & have built up credit you will probably need a co-signer for anyplace you rent, my parents were my co-signers for my 1st several places. 
My suggestion would be if you don’t need to move out soon then maybe save longer & start stocking up on used furniture & housewares (I asked for things like pots & pans & silverware for Xmas & birthdays for a couple of years before I was actually ready to move)

You’ll usually need first months rent and deposit to move in. A lot of the deposits are the same amount as rent. You’ll need deposit money for utilities..the amount sometimes depends on your credit if you’ve never had bills in your name before. Then add in the cost of furniture. I’m sure you can find some decent stuff on FB marketplace. It really just depends on the cost of living where you’re at. I live in the south and 10k would be more than enough.
