Episiotomy pain

So I’m 4 days postpartum and my episiotomy is causing me a ton of pain when I pee. Enough to make me cry every time I go.

I’m a little nervous because it hasn’t hurt much until today. I’m terrified to look and see if there’s anything going on down there.

I tore really badly and the repair took about an hour. My husband says there’s a lot going on down there and is not surprised I’m in so much pain. He told me he would look since I’m too scared to myself but I haven’t let him yet.

Is it normal for the pain to be so delayed? I don’t remember this from my first baby. I remember it being painful right away.
