Told me we should’ve stayed friends

A guy I was friends with for a while developed a crush on me last winter. I would always turn him

down but i finally gave him a chance during quarantine. We’ve started dating a month ago and yesterday he told me it wasn’t gonna work because I kept asking about his feelings (he was acting weird towards me, leading me to question how he felt). He also texted me saying we should’ve stayed friends because he claims we connected more and I thought things were good between us. I’m so upset about all of this
