MTHFR & Miscarriages

I’m currently going through my 6th miscarriage.

I tested positive for MTHFR Gene Mutation and I would love to hear from anyone who has this and experienced miscarriages as well.

I have so many questions and would really appreciate to hear your stories and chat.

My story...

I had my daughter with a perfect pregnancy 4 years ago. When she was two we were excited to try again for baby #2 but we have had nothing but loss since.

I haven’t had a pregnancy go past 5/6 weeks.

Today I’m currently losing my 6th pregnancy.

Miscarriage 1-4 were really unexplained and I was told that it was just “bad luck” and that it was just about the right egg at the right time.

After that I called bs and I demanded answers. My doctor did a lot of test and the only thing they found was I had low progesterone and tested positive for MTHFR. I was told to take progesterone after ovulation and to take 4mg or folate and a daily baby aspirin.

When I went to the pharmacy to get folate the pharmacist told me folic acid was the same thing so I figured out 4mg or folate =4,000 mcg or Folic Acid.

I was excited and hopefully this would fix everything.

My 5th miscarriage was a complete molar pregnancy and absolutely broke me. At that point I was told that it was just an unfortunate thing that happened and was rare. They believed I had a great chance for a successful pregnancy in the future.

After a long break (mentally) we decided to try again.

Ended in an early miscarriage.

I had someone reach out to me in a different group saying that there is a big difference between folate & folic acid and if you have MTHFR you should not take folic acid as it is a synthetic.

I’d love to hear your stories. Of course I’m still seeing my doctor for the medical advice but I’m just being told I have no problem and I should be able to have a successful pregnancy that I should just keep trying.

I’m desperate. I need some kind of hope. This is draining.
