Whooping cough vaccine pregnant ?

I had an ob gyn appt today and my doctor said she recommended me getting a t-dap vaccine 💉 for whooping cough. Apparently babies can’t get the vaccine on their own for a few months after birth and it leaves them at risk for that time (doctor said the worst of it they can die ) . She recommends me getting it while pregnant so baby is covered for those first few months . My pregnancy is a high risk pregnancy even though things have been under control for a while . I still get nervous introducing anything to my body that isn’t absolutely necessary. None of my female family members can recall being asked to get this vax.

Have any of you been told to do this vaccine while pregnant and did you do it ?
