How soon after baby coming home will you have family over?

I feel like my in-laws will want to come meet the baby the second we are home from the hospital and I don’t want that... I would like to wait at LEAST a day or two so we can settle in, but my mother-in-law is soo pushy and always wants her way. :( And I hate conflict or upsetting people. My parents will probably visit a day or so after coming home, but for an hour at the most and with masks on, whereas my mother-in-law will stay for hours and not wear anything! Any tips on how to go about it? This is the first grandchild for both my husband and I’s family. When will you have your family visit?

I’ve found using the “doctor said” as the excuse works best lol. We told both our parents they’d be allowed to meet her once we are settled at home and they need to take precautions but we told them the doctor said no one to hold, kiss, touch hands on her and they didn’t fight us.

Use the excuse of covid. My husband and I are not letting anyone walk through the door of our house unless they show us a negative test result. Even the grandparents!

I would definitely stand your ground. Your mother in law should WANT to take those precautions for the well-being of you guys and her grandchild. We’re still debating how we want to go about visitors and it won’t be till after her first doctors appointment and if we do allow my in laws to come over they are more then okay with wearing a mask, sanitizing and IF they hold her because I’m still debating on it they will have a blanket or something over their clothes so Baby is not directly on their clothing. They can’t touch her face, nor kiss her. I told my mom and my mom is taking it into consideration. She might not even come in and just see her through the window because it is a scary situation with everything going on. Which i might just have everybody else do or if they come in no one can hold her.. we will see when the time comes. This covid stuff is really just crazy and scary...

We are using the "OB and Pediatrician say" thing too to keep people away for 6-8 weeks or more. 
We will be starting our homeschool year about a month after she's born and both my OB and Ped are a 2 hour drive from home, with several appointments in those first couple months, along with older kids' dentists and eye doctor appointments and getting them settled with our new Ped, too. Oh, and the kids starting TKD and football again. 
I don't want to risk baby getting sick from people who don't respect our rules. And I don't feel like being paraded around my family or his.

We are quarantining for 2 weeks post hospital. My parents will also quarantine those 2 weeks and then come stay with us for 1 week while my in laws start their quarantine and then come stay with us for 1. We aren’t having any other visitors. My brother works at a mall so he won’t be meeting the baby for a while.

We live out of state. So family is coming in self quarantine before, but they will stay a while. 
But I think your husband needS to talk to his family. Set a limit. “Hey after two hours we really need time as a family.” If you want to come over and stop by, then please bring your mask.

Be happy it’s only for a few hours my mother in law wants to come from out of the country with her three teen children and stay for 3 weeks FML this is my third baby I really don’t need the help 😞 I explained it to my husband but he is all about her coming to help me !!!!!! Did I say FML!!!

My mom will already be at our house watching the dogs for us. But i have a feeling my in laws will want to come over right away and i would also like to get settled in and rest first. I have a feeling they’ll wear their masks but I’m so afraid of my mother in law trying to kiss the baby, even through the mask. I’ll lose my cool!! My dad and his fiancé on the other hand will have to quarantine for two weeks because they are going down the shore sometime this month. Luckily they understand.

Oh man this is tough to handle.
This pregnancy my mom is practically living with us these last 2 weeks leading up to the birth and my MIL is coming to stay afterwards for a while too.  But that’s what I want.  This pregnancy has been rough physically so I appreciate the help with my toddler SO much.  
With my first, there was no covid and I wasn’t super scared of sickness, but man oh man! those postpartum hormones had me feeling all kinds of things!!!  I thought I’d want my mom, but I actually couldn’t have her come over for about a week.  I had no problem with my MIL though.  And I still can’t figure out why except for the hormones.  The thought of having my mom over doting on the baby made me want to throw up.  I felt so bad about it too!  I ended up telling her, “I love you, but this is a crazy time and my hormones are all over the place.  I need some time to process and heal alone with the baby and you’ll be the first to know as soon as I’m ready to see people.”
It’s tough because I’m like you, I just want everyone to be happy and it’s hard for me to say no or to know someone is mad at me.
