Ultrasound 8 weeks?

Long story short this is my 2nd pregnancy. I had morning sickness with my first pretty bad (from 6-30 weeks), but I have it again and I would honestly say this time is worse because with my first I got "breaks" from it when currently I am getting no breaks (all day/all night). I've lost 5 lbs.

Finally called my doctor's because I am close to not being able to function and they want to see me before my new patient intake for an ultrasound. Is that normal or concerning? Also will this be a vaginal ultrasound since it's 8 weeks?

I didn't get my first ultrasound with my son until 14 weeks so obviously was on done on my stomach.
