How Long are you Waiting to Allow Visitors After Baby is Born?

I can’t decide how long I want to keep people away from him when he’s born. I also don’t want guests over right away. I’m thinking 3-4 weeks. What’s everyone else thinking?

I’m having no visitors with the exception of my mom until this virus calms down by a lot! I’m in Canada so numbers are getting better but if your I the US I wouldn’t for a while.....

Our parents and siblings get to meet the new baby other than that it will probably be a month or more before anyone else does and even then I’m not sure if I’ll be letting them hold her.

I’ll play it by ear. I have five people that are allowed to come over after baby and I’ll be strict on how we go about it.

My parents and husbands parents will be over to see her the day she comes back from hospital, our brother and sister probably within 2 weeks and extended family I’d say within the month but probably no holding her due to covid x

I work at the hospital I will be delivering in. I wrote on my birth plan specifically no visitors, I felt that way even before COVID. Because these are my coworkers they are extremely understanding. It was a huge issue before the pandemic, but honestly I didn’t care. Both my fiancé’s family and my own are huge. Pandemic aside, you need to do what honestly makes YOU comfortable. You’re the one who’s bringing that little person into this world. You are going to be overwhelmed. I remember being bombarded with my first and I hated it. I had all these people passing my son around and not respecting any of my wishes and came over as they pleased. I didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but seriously just do whatever you feel comfortable with! I chose two weeks, because my very immediate family will see my son probably sooner rather than later...everyone else can wait, though. And if they get COVID tested then I won’t care as much.

Right away. My dad lives just down the road and my sister is going to meet us in the parking lot after discharge.

I initially told our families 2 months but now am just going to wait and see what the situation is like once we deliver. Minimum two weeks for quarantine but after that I may let my parents come if they mask up and everything and don’t hold the baby. His parents would have to fly so I think it may not be possible until next spring.

I am having some people come right away, like my parents, brother, and MIL. Basically the people who would come to the hospital if visitors were allowed. Also probably a few close friends the week we are home. One a day, so we are not overwhelmed. Then we will take a break for a week or two with nobody so we can settle in, adjust, and bond as a family. If cases in my area decided to go up at any point, we will restrict visitors. But right now everything is trending way way down, and the doctor said that the rate of transmission is extremely low right now.
