What should I do?

We went and got family/ newborn pictures and we already paid $400 for 20 pictures 😳. Which it already RIDICULOUS! Our pictures finally came in and she added more for $176 😬. And she messaged me saying she’ll only charge me $5.50 a picture if I decided to add them and that’s me saving. What in the world?? 😤😫 she lost me as a customer for sure. The additional pictures stay up for a month. But I can’t just pull $176 out of my pocket. This is ridiculous. Is this normal for photographers?

You may have not read over the entire contract or looked into how she works. You are guaranteed your 20 images w your payment of $400 correct? She most likely is giving you the option to purchase the entire gallery (rest of images) for $176. This is pretty fairly priced for newborn photos.

A bunch of photographers for maternity or newborn wanted to charge $1200 for THE PHOTOSHOOT and were not including digital prints. The lowest I found was $300 with prints included. 
I ended up having a coworker who teaches photography and has her own business to do mine and she only charged us $150 for 1 hour for maternity pics with 40 digital prints.

I guess I need some clarification here. Is she making you pay the extra $176 to receive any of the pictures or is she just offering to add on more pics for $176? If she's just offering to add on more then I don't see what the issue is here??? When you booked her did you not know she was gonna charge you $400 for 20 pictures??? If you did then why is it ridiculous?

The girl who did my friends newborn photoshoot charged her around $450 for 30 pictures

This is why I will never pay that much for a photo shoot. People can be so sketchy. If the photographer was up front with pricing BEFORE the shoot, that would have been different. This just seems like bad business practices

In the uk we have a thing called bounty when you have your baby you can have baby pictures and pictures with you baby, me and partner have a whole welcome pack of pictures welcome to world pictures on a card (like a thank you for people who get us gifts) a canvas and usb stick it only cost around £200 I think.... 400 dollars and then another 176 is pricey.

When I got professional pictures there was a set price for a set amount of pictures .. in my case $350 for 12 pictures. Then afterwards I can purchase the entire gallery for an extra $175. The others are optional. I think this is common practice.
