10 days into breastfeeding...
... And things are back to normal.
To be fair I felt a shift to the positive at 5 days. My little one finally got the hang of nursing and would latch with more and more confidence (sometimes she still misses it but not when she's hungry), and instead of clamping down on my nipples she can actually eat well.
From then on it was just a master of being patient.
I aired my boobs and nursed and waited and in the following days, they healed up!
I'm not sure if it was my breasts getting used to the work or baby's technique improving so much, but aside from a slight discomfort with letdown, all the pain is gone - while in the first week, it just HURT to nurse this little one.
I'm so happy I kept trying.
I loved breastfeeding my first and wanted to do the same with little baby now, but I didn't anticipate it being just so very painful. I don't remember it hurting with the first one either, not even in the first week, so I was really surprised.
